These therefore vary according to the organisation of the public sector and the company agreement that covers its employees. However, there are various agreements that apply to large parts of the Victorian public sector. One of them is the Victoria Public Service Companies Agreement 2020. It contains information on grades, salary levels and other general conditions of employment for the respective ministries and agencies. The number of grades and the content of the grade descriptions vary depending on the organization of the public sector and its applicable corporate agreement. For example, the 2020 Victoria Public Service Undertaking Agreement (mentioned above) includes a Class 1 to 7 structure as well as detailed descriptors of each. You can read them in Appendix C of the Agreement. This Directive provides guidance with regard to Clause 15 of the VPS Agreement, which describes the categories of employment in which a worker may be employed and the obligations of employers to give preference to current forms of employment over casual and fixed-term arrangements where possible. In the event of inconsistency between the internal policy of a department or body and the common policy, the common policy shall prevail. Departments and agencies can always provide employees with more generous benefits that go beyond what is stipulated in the VPS Agreement and Common Guidelines. .
